There are many retail and fast food chains that sell franchises. This is where someone pays a fee to run one of their stores as their own business. However this person does not have complete autonomy over the business as they need to adhere to the specific business model that is set out by the company. If this is something you are thinking about doing then you need to think about all the positives and negatives of buying a franchise.

The pros of buying into a franchise are easy to see. For starters your business is already a success. The majority of start up businesses are seen to fail within five years. You would not need to think about how to promote your product or portray the right image as this has already been achieved. You simply need to manage an already successful business in a way that keeps the profits coming in.

With a start up business there is always a certain amount of unavoidable loss as you experiment with prices and products. This is eliminated with franchising as it has already been set up for you. You also do not need to worry about advertising as this is already done for you by the overseeing company.

As well as these advantages franchises tend to work out cheaper than starting your own business. You will also find that you are more likely to be able to get credit from the bank as they are more willing to lend to a business that has already proved it is successful. You cannot make those kind of guarantees with a new company as it has no track record.

However, despite all these advantages there are some disadvantages to consider as well. Although this can be seen as an easy way into the business world you still need to have some business or area related experience. The amount required varies depending on the company. The company wants to make sure that you will run the business in the way they want you to.

You also need to consider the fees that you will need to pay. You will pay a set fee to buy into the franchise but there are often regular admin fees as well. There is also no guarantee that you will be offered a renewal at the end of the contract term and if you are then you may need to pay the same first fee amount again in order to renew. You should also remember that you are required to pay the fees even if your business does not make any profit.

You will also have a lot less freedom than you would if it was your own business. You will be contracted to keep the lay out and decoration of the premises in the style dictated by the company and you will need to sell the goods that come with the brand. You will not be able to experiment with any other products.

If this is something that you are thinking about doing you should take the time to weigh up all the pros and cons to decide if this is the right thing for you.

Now you can locate all the information and details you need to start a franchise today! When you have a franchise business, you can create the residual income that will give you financial freedom in the future.

Let me present myself: John, main manager for a computer company. Our company are doing jobs related to software programming. Our main projects are all high-end ones. Example: the last big contract we had was for some surveillance software to be used by the city. We spent over 1 year polishing the software. Many hours were spent on it. Now we are working on smaller jobs.

My staff has five programmers. They are all well versed in computer programming. We do offer projects for Linux, Windows and Mac. Two of my programmers are part-time students and I usually made them work on the weekend. They are also the ones doing overtime the evenings. Our current project is related to some portal services. The customer wants a full portal with plenty of choices. Since we started, there have been lots of modifications. This customer is very picky.

In our workplace, only the best computers are used. We have top notch printers and office equipments too. All our programmers are using the iPAQ 4155. This pocket tool is great to keep notes about the current tasks and the project schedule. To communicate between ourselves is very easy with this little gadget. Everyday, my programmers had to be updated on any project changes. Let’s say one of them becomes sick…. well, the others need to be fully working as soon as possible without delay.

It did happen last year. My main programmer had to stay home for a whole two weeks. We were simply too tight on the schedule to make everything up to date. Thankfully, the employee was able to give proper guidance. Such thing rarely happens. Everything is very well documented. That day, we simply had no time to check back everything. The customer was waiting and we were sweating. Since then I made sure everyone is up to date about the project and all the details are clearly understood.

My company has been in business since 5 years so far. We grew up slowly and gained good fame for our quick deliverance. We have regular customers. I do spend lots of time with them reviewing the specifications and a lot more. The office is located in the downtown near the business district. It is a nice working place. I love my job a lot !
