Movers what will 2010 bring?

2009 was a down year over all for most moving companies with some in the media declaring a depression for relocation in Atlanta Georgia and across most major cities in America. 2010 will be a hard year to predict. Will the moving market stay in the dull drums or will this be the year that housing prices and low-interest rates finally get folks off the fence and into new homes? Or will 2010 be the year that many home owners were forced to stay in the home they own because they owned more than it is currently worth or they are unable to sell because the other comps they are competing against are short sales or foreclosures?

Hopefully here in Atlanta we have seen the bottom of the real estate market bubble bursting and Atlanta movers along with other cities will return to a healthy level of real estate and moving transactions.

2010 is half way through and the impact of the home buyers credits seem to have been possibly positive and negative for the moving industry over all as well as the real estate, housing, and relocation markets.

When politically geared programs are introduced the negatives of the programs can often overturn the positives. The first time home buyer tax credits (in both forms that were offered to buyers over the twenty four months or so) may have done more to bad for movers and real estate professionals than good. The credits surely will be a big role in the results many Atlanta movers will show but also that may not be all good. My best guess for 2010 is that it will again be slower than an average year for most moving companies but that may also change based on the location of that mover and the condition of the areas real estate market.
