Have you ever taken a box to the post office without it being secured with packaging tape? They would not accept it would they? Nor can you close your box with masking tape, scotch tape or even duct tape for that matter. No you have to use the proverbial packaging tape. And if you try to get the post office to lend you a strip they will point to their for sale items and tell you to buy a roll there. Do not buy it from them. It is less expensive online or at your local discount store.

The post office and other delivery companies require packaging tape because it holds securely and because of its reliability. These features make packaging tape great for other purposes. The post office knows the tape will keep boxes from busting at the seams. This means you can trust packaging tape for other jobs.

Do you need something sealed but you do not want to the tape to be seen? Packaging tape is a good choice because it is clear.

I have used packaging tape on vinyl furniture. If there is tear on the cushion or arm of a couch or sofa place a double strip of packaging tape on it. This will keep the rip or tear from getting bigger.

If you have wood molding that is coming apart and you do not want to hammer a nail because it might split the wood, use a strip of packaging tape.

You can use packaging tape in your car. How many times does car upholstery tear because of sun damage? You can keep tears or rips from getting bigger with a strip of packaging tape until you can repair the area. This also works for the ceiling of the inside of your car if there is tear there.

In the summer time you leave your windows open. But if there is tear in the screen in come the flies and mosquitoes. Use a strip of tape on the screen door or window to keep them out until you can replace the screen. And because the tape is clear you can use it on security doors which have screens on them. There are usually gaps left between the screen and wrought iron. The tape you stick there will not be seen unless someone knows it is there.

Use packaging tape to secure a flyer around a telephone pole or light post. You might want to advertise a yard or garage sale. Use packaging tape and that flyer will not be coming down very easily.

The post office is the expert when it comes to shipping packages. They know a good product when they see one, and packaging tape is a good product. But this good product is not limited to only sealing packages. As you can see there are many, many uses for packaging tape. And I am sure once you keep a roll handy you will find many more uses for it as well.

How many dismantled packaging boxes are lying in your attic or basement? If you are like me, then I must admit I have quite a few in my home. Some hold useless things in them but others have my memories, like photos and memorabilia.

England started this magical revolution in 1817 and the United States commercialized their box in 1895. Unfortunately our forefathers had to contend with heavy wooden and metal boxes to protect their belongings. I can remember how my grand parents pushed and pulled at their heavy wooden boxes and due to this, there wasn’t a lot of moving and stacking and repacking done in those days. Then, along came corrugated paper and of course the packaging industry really took this and mastered packing techniques to its fullest. We have such an array of shapes, sizes and colors to choose from, that packaging has become a fun activity to do. The hunt for that perfect box become a pleasant past time, especially if you have a good packaging company to assist you.

Packaging boxes has become a science. Since the advent of corrugated cardboard the different shapes, sizes and density that is on the market, has afforded the buyer a massive variety to choose from. The main reason one would buy this merchandise is for storage. Whether it be for short-term or long-term, there is a box for every occasion. Considerations like cost efficiency, safety, environmentally-friendly and durability has been addressed by the manufacturers. These vital areas of manufacturing packaging boxes of course, is all passed down to the customer. So our humble brown box has it’s rightful place in history, as well as in our homes.

When faced with the decision on how to choose the correct packaging for your possessions, one would have to consider whether the packaging has enough strength to protect an item. Think about things like moisture, insects or even heat. If you are not completely sure how much your item or items need protection, it’s always advisable to take the stronger material. This would put your mind at ease.

Of course cardboard is by no means the only form of packaging. The creativity in this industry is truly mind blowing. You can find anything from paper, carton, film, foam, plastic, textile and I am sure they are working on some space age way to store your goods as we speak.

But, finding that special box needs some investigative skills, so you are going to be asked a few very important questions.

Lets look at a few basic objectives:

*will your items in the package need protection from heat, shock or vibration

*would you like to preserve self-life when packaging your material

*will your products or objects be grouped together in one package for reasons of efficiency

*does the end user play and important role in how you package your objects

*do you require your packaging to have particular security measures

*would you need to re-pack your products into smaller units

*is it vital that your packaging be easy to open, pack or store

Gone are the days when you can just grab an old second-hand box to pack your items. Packaging boxes have become an art form and what a nice way to express yourself, by using well sourced boxes.
