A good integral part of a supply chain is the packaging materials used. It does not only protect goods from the possible damage but also allows distribution to be efficient.

Some companies includes in their duty to encourage the consumers and believe in considering the task to retain packaging purpose even after the product has already in use. It is because they understand the environment\’s pressure and the nation\’s growing need for it. People should find the importance of reusing and conversing packaging materials. That will be a best way to recycle since they will only use their own energy.

There is this new study using EDIP or the industrial product environmental design method in Danish that calculates the ranges of materials. According to it, materials considerably differs the impact in environment. In general, cardboard or paper and glass per kg are with the lowest impact. Plastics such as polystyrene, polypropylene and polyethylene are next to lowest. Those with greater impact are aluminum, tin-plate and steel. And yet other plastics too are with great impact. The material\’s totality depends also to the quantity of the merchandise.

The EDIP method includes environmental pressures, energy consumption such as ozone photochemical formation and greenhouse effect and waste.

Each of packaging materials has different properties. Their actual use mostly depends to the cost and availability. The marketing reasons maybe for some manufacturing companies lie also to the materials. Here are some of the materials those companies are using:

\’ Textiles \’ containers made of textiles have moisture barrier and have poor gas. Woven jute sacks are treated chemically so that it can prevent rotting. These materials are non-slip, have good durability and with high tear resistance. It\’s usually used in packaging foods like grain, sugar, salt and flour.

\’ Paper and Cardboard \’ lighter and weaker mostly in use for sweet wrappers and grocery bags. Greaseproof kind of paper is resistant to fats and oils. In the similar way, boards are suited for food but only thicker.

\’ Kenaf \’ plant that can be found and grows in India, Africa, Cuba and Central Asia. For Indian people, they address it as deccan hemp or if not ambary. Its use as rope or string making. A yarn spun in it that can be use in coarse canvas.

\’ Wood \’ more chiefly are produced compare to other containers. It is widely used in transporting fresh fruit and vegetables.

\’ Sisal \’ fiber from agave plants family. It is resistant in salt water meaning you can make rope since its material is natural.

\’ Cotton \’ inexpensive and a satisfactory wrapper for grains, legumes, powdered or granulated sugar and flour. It can be used many times because the materials withstand the washing.

\’ Glass \’ It is rigid that allows stacking without the damage. It\’s also impervious to gases, odors, micro-organisms and moistures. Yet it has higher weight which means higher cost for the transport and is potentially a serious hazard for fragments from its glass splinter.

So consumption and the production should work together to sustain save the environment. It\’s not enough that packaging supplier will just think of saving money but consumers should economize their bought packaging materials. That\’s how the environment policy should work.

Hobart FD and PD were alerted to a rollover with possible injuries at around 2:30 on 10-16-09. On arrival PD units determined the driver fled the scene, possibly into a cornfield. A Hobart k-9 unit responded to assist in searching for the victim. While pd units searched for the victim a tow truck from Cars towing uprighted the vehicle. The uprighting process was sped-up double. Enjoy

When shipping items it is imperative to use the right packaging materials for the item being sent. Fragile items require special attention to avoid breakage and heavy items may require creative uses. There are many different options available when it comes to the right package, choose the best coverage for the item to avoid damage.

Packing materials can come in either plastic or paper and both are available in a lot of different sizes and shapes. There is a correct package for any item that will be shipped. Small items such as jewelry can sometimes be shipped in a large padded envelope which is less expensive than using a box.

There is a box to fit any shape or size; sometimes you just may have to be a little creative when deciding the shape. The important thing is to make the item protected against damage. When using a box, the item should fit snuggly inside to avoid shifting. There should be no rips or tears anywhere on the cardboard.

The item should be snuggly wrapped before placing it in the box. Wrapping can consist of heat shrinking plastic, cloth or bubble wrap. The bubble wrap is the most economical and will offer the best protection for fragile items.

Once you have found the appropriate box and wrapped the item with a snug fit you will also need to add filler to the box for added protection. The filler can be strips of cardboard or plastic bags, anything that will offer added protection and keep the item from moving around in the box. The best filler to use is Styrofoam peanuts. These are recycled materials that can be purchased inexpensively. They are very lightweight so they will not add a lot of added weight to package which can reduce the shipping fees.

Now that you have your items snuggly in the box it is time to seal the container. The box should be sealed extremely well to avoid damage during shipping. Although duct tape comes to mind as a strong way to seal the box, it actually is not the best way. Duct tape can melt during high temperatures and come unsealed or leave a mess on the box. Scotch tape is not strong enough and will come open during shipping. The best tape to use is a packing tape. This kind of tape can be purchased at most department stores and is relatively inexpensive. Do not forget to tape the corners of the box; they sometimes split during shipping so taping them is added reinforcement.

When addressing the package use a fine tip black marker for the best results. The address of the person receiving the package as well as your address should be written clearly. If there is damage to the package you will be contacted so it is important to write clearly. If sending an item as a business, do not forget to put your invoice inside before sealing the box. If you are sending a large padded envelope, seal the flap with tape for extra protection and write clearly on the front of the envelope.

After enclosing your item in the correct packaging materials, take the package to the post office or shipping location to be weighed and shipped. Be sure to get information on all of the available shipping options. Days vary in price so if your package does not need to be overnight delivered you will save a great deal of money by shipping the package as normal delivery.
