Question by Ron M: High Performance vs Standard Brake pads?
according to advanced auto parts, i have two options for brake pads: standard or ceramic. the ceramic ones are “high performance” and are thus more than twice the price. are they really worth it, or will i be just fine with the regular ones? I drive a 06 Scion tc

If you choose the Ceramic brake kit, you will notice the awesome stopping power, you will only really make use of this if you drive a manual car and rely on using a combination of engine breaking using the manual transmission, and the brakes as well to allow you to perform some very fast stops. Very good for track days and events alike, where the ceramic can generally stand much higher temperatures, and extremes of braking, stopping a 2 ton car from 150MPH.
If you are a non aggressive driver with a automatic vehicle there is not much point going to the trouble of buying them, as its not a racing car.
You can certainly install them on an auto but its like like having a Nitrous oxide purge valve installed, when you don’t even use nitrous oxide. Just no point of going to the expense. But its your car so do as you wish.
