Just finished Week 8 of my training. Had a great time driving at night. Felt good to do something new, something exciting. It wouldn’t have been so bad if we would have had a nice truck, but both of our trucks on both nights had seats that were bolted to the frames, so I got my back beat up pretty bad both nights because I was always the last to drive at 10:30 to 12:30 for some reason. Oh well. On to our final week, and hopefully the DMV testing!
A Hogan truck caught fire in Roland OK, at the Pilot. The driver was not injured. I use a SVP hddv-8600.
Just finished Week 3 of my training in which we were on the “Range” at the Donaldson Center on an old air strip. We practiced going through some cones without hitting them, approximately 40 mph on the backstretch with upshifting and downshifting, and then putting our front bumpers in the stop box required by the dmv. Things went very well, I’m glad and proud to say. I can’t wait for next week, but I believe that others are not, because they will start sending us home if we cannot do a good job….
I went thru the 5 hours process of getting my Medical Exam Certificate that you need to gain a Commerical drivers license permit. You also need to keep this on you at all times to avoid stiff fines while on the road, doing your job. I have the feeling that the trucking experience will be a good one after again meeting with James Bailey of GTC at the Donaldson Center.
I am continuing this series by Talking about my first job Orientation!
