Have you ever wondered at those freight ships with their checkered load of red and blue containers which, slowly passing bridges like the Golden Gate Bridge, may look almost toy-like form that windy observation point, and which you have never seen docked, but which in reality must be titanic? Don’t be alarmed at that ominous last word: shipping your car by sea is as easy and safe as domestic shipping.

If you are afraid that getting your car across a sea is not worth the trouble, make sure you compare free quotes offered by companies online. You may be surprised how much a shipping organization speeds things up and makes them easier and stress free. All car brands ship: anything from modern to vintage. Your classic and your sports, your veteran and your prestige car are guaranteed safe transport across any of the seven seas by a number of long-established large carrier companies and by a growing number of smaller but reliable modern businesses.

Shipping by sea is really not that different from land shipping. You will need maritime insurance, though, as your regular car insurance won’t cover overseas travel. Any of the three standard shipping methods will require you to prepare your vehicle for shipping just as you would over land.

To get your car into port it must be in a drivable condition. Otherwise, company trucks will be available to take it to the docks. A full tank of gas is usually unnecessary and undesirable, since it adds weight. Have enough gas to get the car into port and onto and off the ship.

There are three methods used to ship vehicles: Roll On Roll Off (RoRo), a 20-foot container, or a 40-foot container.

The least expensive way is by a RoRo ship: a great vehicle ferry. Your car will be driven onto the ship and into a slot along other cars. Though secured in place, the car will still be left open alongside other cars, remaining more vulnerable to damage or accident. RoRo is the standard method to ship over short distances.

A safer way is the container method. A car is snugly fitted into a 20-foot container so it does not shift and it is all by itself. It is securely locked in its nest to protect it from access by anyone but the authorized agents until it either reaches customs or its destination, whichever comes first. The container also protects it against damage by other vehicles and the elements.

These two methods will usually not allow transportation of any personal belongings with the car. In some cases (depending on your car make, for example) a 20-foot container has room to accommodate some personal belongings. With a 40-footer, personal belongings are loaded in first, secured and separated from the vehicle, which is then driven or pushed into the container.

You must determine from the chosen shipper all appropriate fees that are to be paid upon arrival. Fees will vary depending upon the country of destination. Documentation is also going to be somewhat different from ground transportation. The shipping companies are knowledgeable in the various requirements of foreign countries, so rest assured that your property will be safe and secure.

Life today is becoming more and more expensive. We, the people, with our increasingly technologically driven society, demand more luxury and just plain more stuff than ever. More people everyday are moving into a higher standard of living and our society encourages this, even though it demands more money to sustain.

The two-car family is standard in modern times. Both parents certainly have a car and the teenagers in the family probably do too, or at least share one. These are the families that also have a mobile life style, moving to a new residence at least once a decade. This movement may require either driving or shipping the vehicles over long distances.

Just one car being driven a long distance will rack up the expenses. Fuel costs can be $20 every hundred miles or even more. If you have two cars to drive, say 500 miles, you can figure at least $1000 for gasoline alone. Add to the cost of the fuel, the wear and tear on the vehicles (and the drivers). the food and lodging that probably will have to be purchased as well, and you have yourself a very tidy payout indeed. The auto shipping industry is suddenly looking mighty fine.

The inability to relocate may cramp your lifestyle. The fairly new auto shipping industry will not only save you money and personal stress, but will help you to fulfill your dreams. Relocating for a better position may have to be set aside if you can’t relocate those vehicles because of either the distance or the terrain.

Auto shipping is very much representative of the modern movement towards successful international business and life style. It makes easy what would have otherwise been impossible. To hire a professional, certified, established carrier company is now the sensible and natural thing to do. There are a number of parameter to consider and then your car is in safe hands and on its way to that next great stage in your life.

First, allowing an appropriate amount of time to plan the trip will be cost saving. If the company is given sufficient time to take orders from other customers so he can fill the carrier to its maximum capacity, your costs will be way less than if it were to ship on a less than full carrier.

Next you will need to consider whether to choose an open carrier or a closed container. Open carriers are cheaper, but the cars on it are, as the name implies, open to hostile elements: anything from hail to accidental or intention hunting-rifle fire.

So unless you must really pinch your pennies and have no choice but to go with the open carrier, go ahead and take the risk. If you are in less stringent circumstances, by all means opt for the security of the closed container shipping. Everyday new technologies are flooding into the industry. Both the shipping containers themselves and security measures are far superior to where they were ten or twenty years ago. You will want to strongly request the latest Trans-Rack containers for your car’s journey to be the best it can be.

Reducing the number of industries contributing to the collapse of our planet\’s environment actually lowers the cost on the services these companies provide in many cases. Some technologically minded theorists quiver with excitement over new technologies like super-crystals and nano-microchips. Others are simply insatiable consumers with no concept of how things work as long as they can own the latest gadgets the new technologies provide. These fashionistas will grab the latest generation of wireless cell phones so they can listen to music without earbuds while displaying themselves on crowded, noisy thoroughfares. They could care less about the technology or even the music for that matter. They are the trendy ones.

Car owners tend to follow the same pattern. To many of them, a car is a luxury item, while to others it a symbol of status, an achievement to display. There are approximately 25% of car owners worldwide who own their vehicle not out of necessity, but because \”everybody has one.\” Some own cars even though it is not sensible or convenient to do so. Yet these same people will do anything, even work multiple jobs so they can show that they own a car, whether used or new, or Kia Rio or Mercedes XL. Why? So they can drive around the corner (instead of walk) to the hottest club.

This phenomenon can also be applied to auto related services, like auto shipping. This is an industry that began by satisfying a genuine need. They are constantly working to enhance their services, and with this, their marketing strategies. They soon became much more than a sensible service providing industry, and are now something of a status symbol. When this symbol becomes standardized sufficiently, not just the major names in the industry, but even the small fry benefit from rampant consumerism.

There have been steps taken to reduce the ill effects these mammoth carriers have on the environment, but their number is increasing as shipping grows in both potential and popularity. Innovative technologies are being created to improve auto shipping, but there is no current technology that can turn back the damage done to the sea and air by one lone ro-ro ferry performing only one job.

It may seem that environmental problems are not as yet apparent enough in the world for individual consumers to worry about. But the opposite is true. Heedless consumerism distracts from actual events only slightly outside the field of auto shipping by sea and land. Invasive species introduced by large cargo ships are estimated to cost the U.S. dozens of billions of dollars per year. Ballast water spreads bacteria, cholera of various strains, toxic algae, and voracious pests like the the Zebra Mussel. A single load of ballast water from a freight carrier can spread within a matter of years enough pests to destroy fishery, agriculture, tourism and recreational industries.

Successful marketing is just as much responsible for the bright future of the shipping industry as the need for its services. Because business is currently good for the industry, governments are sure to impose technical and performance restrictions, surcharges for roads, vehicle models, and related services.

A reefer container is truly referred to as a refrigerated container that is very vital when it involves the whole process of transfer of bulk industrial products where freezing is required. A reefer is really a giant machine like structure which functions as a vehicle and ensures that products are carried properly from one place to another so that no harm to the products or problems caused. Most of the things that are carried in a reefer are quite expensive materials that require correct and amazing maintenance and are extremely valuable. Certain metals or industrial merchandise can solely be transferred in their liquid state and hence a reefer becomes very relevant and important.

The reefer is an extraordinarily necessary machine that involves several advanced ways of cooling. Terribly expensive reefers ensure that solely a terribly expensive and posh technique of cooling is used and that is why they use water coolers. Such water coolers are undoubtedly perfect when it comes to their use and at the same time also ensures that the process of refrigeration is carried off very well. Beside that it typically becomes difficult for corporations to afford such very expensive ways of water cooling as a result of of that several reefer container company use carbon dioxide to install new and innovative methods of cooling.

The entire process becomes more cheaper however effective as a result of all products stay in a refrigerated state and the major purpose of keeping industrial product is assured. Since there are plenty of completely different strategies on which the cooling process in a reefer truck functions, the worth of the reefer quite high and will be quite expensive for companies to afford.

A reefer is an absolute must have because many corporations need their merchandise to be properly transferred from one place to another. Of course all major transport companies are most definitely expected to own a reefer container while not the whole process of transporting bulk materials for industrial functions gets affected badly. Each transport company all across the globe wants to invest in an exceedingly reefer container to confirm the correct transportation of materials.

The reefer is pretty complicated machinery that works on difficult theories and principles of cooling and heating. It is additionally quite expensive and solely major corporations and industries will afford to invest on a reefer primarily as a result of it does not find an excessive amount of application elsewhere as massive transport companies. The maintenance of the reefer is extraordinarily vital and a correct yearly upgrade and safe keeping policy requires to be followed for ensuring that the entire method of maintaining a reefer is finished really well. Associated Cold Stores and Transport Logistics (ACS&T), the pioneering logistics supplier to the UK food sector, is asking companies to choose their logistics provider wisely, or risk being left with compromised, costly services. With companies now increasingly making their choices based on simple price-per-service information provided by suppliers via online spreadsheets, Malcolm Johnstone, Managing Director of ACS&T is warning companies of the inadequacies of this method in choosing the best service. He goes on to argue that choosing a supplier by examining individual practices, methods and additional services is the only way to guarantee a good value, suitable partner:

\”Recently, frozen food companies have moved towards choosing logistics suppliers entirely on price. With the recession, businesses are looking for ways to save money, and the logistics and operations managers who have been traditionally involved in the decision, have been removed from the process. Increasingly, this decision is now in the hands of procurement specialists, whose preferred method of measuring supplier response to tenders is with online, electronic spreadsheets.

It is understandable that, in the current economic climate, businesses are looking to reduce the cost of the supply chain. Procurement departments, who lack the experience in the intricacies of logistics and the associated costs, often make their choices solely based on price, with decisions made with the belief that logistics services can easily be broken down and priced against a simple set of requirements. In reality, this is simply not the case, and a price that seems very cheap can be misleading when the actual requirements of a company are taken into account!

For Logistics providers, procurement initiatives like this are regarded as a way of trying to breakdown their services and turning the tender process to a simple question of how low you can get your price. However, these tenders do not include enough meaningful information on specific variables such as blast freezing and tempering, de-stuffing, storage temperatures or palletisation, meaning that any price given by the supplier is, at best, a rough guess. Often, this price will have no correlation to actual working practices, leaving both parties dissatisfied with the final service agreement.

It can be argued that the idea of using of procurement specialists and online platforms is intrinsically flawed in itself, as the decision makers do not have to live with the consequences of picking an unsuitable logistics provider. With procurement teams, there is always the danger that the overall prize of reducing costs is valued much more than quality, value-added service. Whereas after the appointment of a supplier, procurement teams move on to their next job, the operations or logistics managers are left with the task of working with reduced budgets, rebuilding the quality of supply chains, and managing customers who are dissatisfied with the new programme.

ACS&T Logistics believe they have an alternative solution. ACS&T focus on building mutually beneficial relationships with all its clients, with an adaptive service that can accommodate the ever-changing individual demands of businesses. Procurement initiatives may be able to uncover companies who offer a storage rate at a slightly cheaper rate, but these savings are insignificant in the long term. ACS&T customers save thousands of pounds through its leading edge online stock management system, by minimising their stock inventory and reducing operational failures and unit costs through the consolidated supply of ingredients to the production line.

This year can be seen as a difficult time in selecting the right supplier for your frozen food logistics programme. Suppliers are facing a lot of challenges over the next twelve months, with expected increases in the cost of power and fuel, as well as the necessity of replacing all their R22 refrigeration systems. Already affected by the current economic climate, some providers may struggle to stay afloat, and procurement prices are only sustainable if these companies remain trading. Very few procurement specialists consider the potential cost of recovering stock from administrators when choosing a logistics partner!
