Upgrade your Vehicle?s Suspension System for Shocking Results

If you are looking for a performance pick me up, a new suspension may be just what the doctor ordered. A rugged lift kit can provide clearance and strength for navigating rough and rocky terrain, while a set of lowering springs can enhance cornering and handling on the road. No matter the case, your suspension should be inspected and maintained periodically for optimal safety and performance.

Volkswagen said it right. “On the road of life, there are passengers and there are drivers.” Not every driver wants a sports car. There are plenty of people content with their stock parts and the performance that comes with them. My grandma’s 83’ Corolla for example, is more than enough car to get her to art classes and friends’ houses. But then there are automotive enthusiasts; drivers who are looking for the most from their car. Guys, and occasionally girls, who get behind the wheel and push their machine’s limits until every last drop of performance has been squeezed out, like a person with OCD wringing a toothpaste tube until every last molecule is expelled. Odds are, you are like me, and fall somewhere in between.

Just like everything else, suspension systems are so technologically advanced that they can be adjusted by the turn of a screw. So if you’re about to take on the curves of the Pacific Coast Highway, with the quick adjustment of a knob, you will be able to handle every twist and turn thrown at you. Done with the bends? In a few moments you can loosen up your suspension for a more relaxed ride.

Have you ever grabbed breakfast on your way to work and taken a sharp turn only to find your grande-skinny-mocha-frappachino spilt all over you lap? When you turn, weight is shifted in the opposite direction by gravity trying to compensate for the force. This is known as body roll, and consequently is the coffee-spilling culprit. Lowering springs reduce your car’s center of gravity, and therefore reducing resistance on the chassis through the turns. The result you might ask? Quicker steering response and feeling like your car is glued to the road. It is important to realize your expectations and desires when shopping for new springs though. Higher spring rates will give you a tighter suspension, but will stiffen up your general ride. Basically, you will turn on a dime, but feel every nook and cranny in the road. Softer springs will still increase performance, but won’t nearly affect overall ride quality as much. For the most part, I don’t like extremes. I would advise against installing some really stiff springs unless you have a separate track car or are willing to put up with a bumpy ride.

I would also recommend upgrading your shocks as well. They are another component of you suspension system and crucial for the smoothness of you ride. Shocks serve two purposes. They absorb any larger than average bumps so the shock isn’t transferred directly to the car chassis. Secondly, they keep all of your wheels planted on the road at all times. This means your car would turn into a rolling death trap without them. The shocks dampen vertical motion your car experiences from rough surfaces. Without shocks, your car would wallow all over the road until you got sick or it fell apart…or both.

I’m currently running a set of Eibach Lowering springs with Edelbrock shocks. Design your own suspension system to cater to your specific needs. –Mike Rosania

Nitto Tire Announces Vehicles and Mobile Feed For 2010 SEMA Show

Cypress, CA (PRWEB) November 2, 2010

Nitto’s booth at the 2010 SEMA show will feature both sought-after vehicles and Nitto’s latest digital marketing efforts. Included in the vehicle lineup are four must-see cars developed by some of the most sought-after performance builders in the industry: a 2010 Mustang transplanted with the iconic 5.0L engine, a brand-new Ferrari 458 Italia, a 2010 Camaro SS/RS and a street-tuned 2011 Ford F-250. All four are equipped with Nitto’s performance tires, each selected to enhance the performance of the vehicles. Visit Nitto’s booth (#40035) on the first floor of South Hall. If you won’t be at the show, you can check out live updates on Nitto’s mobile website m.nittotire.com. The SEMA-exclusive section of the site will feature each project car as well as images of the Nitto booth and other show events. This site will be promoted on a large outdoor billboard where viewers can use their smartphones to snap a specialized Microsoft tag to link directly to the content.

Renowned performance tuner, Steeda Autosports, created a flagship Mustang that exemplifies both Steeda’s street performance prowess and its attention to stylistic detail. Steeda first replaced the stock motor with an iconic 5.0L engine that Ford reintroduced into its factory lineup for 2011. Other under-the-hood modifications include a supercharger and custom engine calibration, which help bring the final power numbers to 690 hp and 645 lb-ft of torque. With all this horsepower, Steeda needed a way to transfer it to the ground. A Steeda G-trac suspension kit and Nitto’s NT05 max performance tires, sized 275/35ZR20 in the front and 315/35ZR20 in the rear, were up to the challenge. Together they provide enhanced handling and performance. Complementing these performance upgrades is a fully redesigned interior, including leather bucket seats, Alcantara steering wheel and even a leather-wrapped roll cage create a luxurious and comfortable cabin.

Alongside the Steeda Mustang, is the latest and greatest offering from Ferrari: the 458 Italia. Introduced in 2010 to replace the F430, the 458 boasts a V8 engine capable of producing 570 bhp and a lightning-fast top speed of 202 mph. Equally impressive is its ability to reach 62 mph in just 3.35 seconds. Getting this power to the ground is a double wishbone front suspension, multi-link rear suspension, electronic differential, and the F1-Trac traction control system. The finishing touches include 20-inch HRE P40S Monoblok wheels wrapped in Nitto’s luxury performance tire, the Invo, sized 245/35ZR20 in front and 295/35ZR20 in the rear. The Invo provides a balance of performance, ride comfort and quietness that is well-suited to the Ferrari 458. With only a handful on display at SEMA, this vehicle is a must-see.

Rounding out Nitto’s booth are a 2010 Camaro SS/RS designed by American Racing and a 2011 Ford F-250 designed by Monarchy Motors. The Camaro’s LS3 V8 engine was given a power boost with an Edelbrock supercharger and Magnaflow exhaust system to help produce 600 hp. Complementing the beefed-up engine are body modifications from Bell’s Autosports and an amply appointed leather interior with an Alcantara suede dash. Rounding out the package are 22-inch American Racing wheels wrapped in Nitto’s luxury performance tire, the Invo. The 2011 Ford F-250 is a purpose-built street truck. To accommodate large 37” overall diameter Trail Grappler M/Ts, Monarchy Motors added a 7” lift from Icon Vehicle Dynamics. The Trail Grappler is a dual-purpose street and off-road tire that is both aggressive and quiet. In addition to the suspension modifications, the F250 features engine upgrades like an MBRP exhaust, Volant cold-air intake and a bevy of Edge electronic performance products.

To see the vehicles and their specifications, stop by the Nitto booth (40035) during the SEMA show. While at Nitto’s booth, you can participate in some of Nitto’s latest digital marketing efforts, including liking their Facebook page for a chance to win great prizes throughout the year. You can also follow along at Nitto’s mobile site m.nittotire.com.

The process of transporting goods may entail a great deal of money. Many shipping companies today charge a ridiculously high price to ship, especially when dealing with heavy items. Thus, people who need such services should choose wisely so as to find the right transport freight company that offers quality but affordable services.

The most basic area of consideration that consumers must look into would have to be the type of transport mode used by a transport freight service provider. Common forms of transportation currently in use for shipping goods include road, rail, sea, and air freight. There are unique sets of benefits and drawbacks for each type of transportation mode, so knowing which one a particular company uses will help you decide on which freight service provider you need most.

The traditional form of shipment offered by most transport freight companies is by land through the use of trucks or carriages. But this is recommended only for non-perishable goods and is limited within short-distance travel. Furthermore, traveling on the road could also take at least a day, depending on the distance traveled, and is not ideal for meeting tight deadlines.

The use of rail transport for shipping goods or items is fast becoming a common thing in the US for a variety of reasons. For one, it is a lot faster in terms of delivering the goods as compared to land travel. On the other hand, rail systems usually span one state to another, such that you can easily ship items on a long distance without necessarily taking as much time as it would when you travel by road.

Another option available for transport freight services would be sea transportation. All items or goods are filled into a designated container wherein they are securely stacked on top of one another. This will keep your goods from squashing against each other or getting damage during travel. But still, it does not make the process of transferring goods from one location to another a lot faster. In reality, it might even slow down the shipment such that you need to find a better alternative if you want your goods to reach their destination in the soonest possible time.

Finally, air freight services are the most common form of transportation used nowadays and is also the most expensive. This is recommended when shipping perishable and fragile goods, especially when you are trying to beat a deadline. Even if a shipment needs to travel a very long distance, traveling by air will only take a few hours, unlike most of the other transportation modes already mentioned. Thus, nearly all shipping companies today opt for this method as it is more cost-efficient in the long run.

The mode of transportation is one thing to consider when selecting a transport freight service . It will give you the assurance that the package arrives on time without damage to your goods.

Apart from the mode of transportation, it is also essential for you to choose a licensed transport freight service. This assures you that you get reimbursed financially if something goes wrong with your items.

Richard enjoys writing on wide range of of subjects and he is currently interested in how to transport freight at a discount. To save on transport freight visit www.CitizenShipper.com today.
