Actully more like 3-5 mile per gal. Tires average about $500 dollars a piece…truck payment on a brand new $350,000 tractor is about $4500 a month without APR….plus insurance is about $5,000-10,000 dollars a month depending on what you haul, so ya your right, $3000 get eaten up really quickly, but that’s only if your a REAL owner operator…

Your Uncle must be an owner operator. He has truck payments, ins., fuel. You’re lucky to get 7-8 miles per gal. Don’t forget tires. $300+ a piece. Reg. PM maintance big $. And don’t break down on the road, road service=BIG $. It cost a lot to live on the road, unless you just live on sandwichs.Showers are $12 a piece.The list goes on and on. So that $3000 is eaten up pretty quickly. Then there is the fun of running out of hours in the middle of nowhere. There you sit. It’s a hard life.

I ran right across the median onto the opposite side of the highway in ND during a whiteout at 60mph, at least on the ice roads they get to drive slowly
